Goree, his long salt-and-pepper hair pulled back in a ponytail, pauses to listen to the plaintive strains of the Gypsy violin reverberating through the darkened room. “A girl who called herself a Gypsy came in one time and dropped off this tape,” says Scott Goree, leaning against the bar at Magnolia’s–his Santa Rosa nightclub–encircled by memorabilia hanging on the walls.
